When’s the Last Time You Had these Cajun Favorites?

So let’s be honest: when was the last time you let yourself indulge in one of these Cajun favorites? Are there certain Cajun dishes you’ve just been too chicken to try?

There’s never been a better time that NOW to get your Cajun food fix with one of these favorites!

Gator Tail

Oh boy – the most ordered item on the menu (okay besides the rat toes) is our gator tail, and if you’ve never tried it, then you’re definitely missing out! Get it grilled or fried. The fried is served with fries and our “ouch” sauce; the grilled is served over a bed of jambalaya with “ouch” sauce. Either way – you’re in for a Cajun treat.

Andouille Sliders

This is a newer menu item, and one that has quickly grown in popularity! You can order them as an appetizer to whet your palette for a big bowl of gumbo or something – or eat them as a meal. The sliders are made in French baguette, each stuffed with andouille sausage basted in BBQ sauce and fresh slaw. Add a pile of potato chips on the side and your meal is complete.

Gator Punch

Can we shift gears and talk about drinks for a minute?! Our Cajun favorites go beyond the food, as we’ve got a slew of great Cajun style cocktails, including our Hurrycane on the Rocks and the famous Razzoo’s Gator Punch. Trash can drinks never looked – or tasted! – so good with each fish bowl glass (get it for 4 or 2) adorned in classy Mardi Gras beads and then loaded with our favorite liquor.

Gumbeaux

Gumbeaux – or gumbo as most call it – is a Cajun staple and one we take pride in here at Razzoo’s Cajun Café. There is no right or wrong way to make gumbo (although many argue that there is), so we offer two of the most popular ways to prepare it: with seafood or with chicken and Andouille sausage. Both are excellent choices for a brisk Fall day in North Texas!

Ready to get your Cajun on?! Join us at Razzoo’s Cajun Café in Fort Worth, Round Rock, Lewisville, Tyler, Lubbock, College Station, and more to order these, and other, Cajun favorites.

Leave it up to Razzoo’s to cook the best fried catfish around, smother it in our sweet, tangy meuniere sauce (it’s a browned butter and lemon sauce), then serve it on a bed of white rice. Lunch never tasted so good!

Salad & Gumbeaux

It’s exactly what it sounds like: get a soup and a salad! For the soup, choose between either our seafood or chicken and sausage gumbo. For the salad, let us know if you prefer the Chopped Salad or the Caesar Salad. Of course, both come in perfectly sized lunch portions, so you can chow down with no guilt. Even order a craft beer to go with it. Hey, you’re having a salad…you’ve earned it!

Hurricane Shrimp

If you’re a fan of fried shrimp, then you’ll want to give this Texas lunch special a try! Each shrimp is butterflied, battered, and deep fried, but what really makes these delectable shrimp stand out is the sauce. Be prepared to be licking the bowl of our spicy honey pepper Hurricane sauce! Yes, it’s that good!

Grilled Chicken Etouffee

Razzoo’s is known for our crawfish etouffee, but have you ever tried the chicken version? It’s pretty dang tasty too. We use the same rich, dark roux, but instead of seafood, we add chunks of grilled chicken breast. Served over a bed of dirty rice, be prepared to dig in!

When looking for the best deal in town for lunch, don’t forget about your friends here at the Razzoo’s Cajun Café! For just $8.99, choose one of your Cajun favorites and then order a beer to round out the meal.

In addition to some delicious deals on craft beer and cocktails, our birthday celebration marks the beginning of a brand new tradition – Winey Wednesday.

What is Winey Wednesday?

Every Wednesday beginning June 13, you can visit your local Razzoo’s Cajun restaurant in Texas or North Carolina and get any glass of wine for half price! That’s right – all day long! Reds, whites, roses, and sparkling wines are all half price by the glass. It’s a great chance to try something new at a fraction of the cost. Or a chance to get two glasses of your favorite for the price of one. It’s whatever floats your boat. All we know is, Winey Wednesday is the place to be for lunch, happy hour, or dinner.

New Wines Added for Summer!

And just in time for our Winey Wednesday promo, we’ve added two more wines to the wine list for summer: Charles & Charles Rose and a Joel Gott Sauvignon Blanc. If you haven’t heard, Rose is the hottest wine around right now, and we love the crispy, light flavor of the Charles & Charles Rose. As for the Joel Gott Sauv Blanc, it’s the perfect compliment to all the spicy Cajun favorites on our menu. Gator Tail, red beans & rice, and a glass of Joel Gott Sauvignon Blanc please!

Join us Wednesday, June 13, for our Razzoo’s birthday celebration! We can’t wait to party with you!

Ready for it? Razzoo’s Has the Lowdown on the Fastest Way to Shuck an Oyster

It’s oyster season at Razzoo’s, which means we hear a lot of questions about oysters. One of the most common ones: how do I shuck an oyster?

Read on to find out the fastest – and easiest! – way to shuck oysters. The faster you eat – the more you get!

The Old Fashioned Way to Shuck an Oyster

When looking at a sealed oyster, many people will attempt to pry open the oyster along the backside, where the shell comes to a point. How do they do this? By repeatedly jabbing a knife into the oyster until it splits open. Sounds like a good idea, but when it comes down to it, it’s 1) not very graceful and 2) a great way to end up with shards of shell in your oysters or mutilated oyster meat.

Fastest Way to Shuck an Oyster

Okay, are you ready for it? It’s actually pretty simple. First off, locate the wide part of the oyster, which is the front. Now, instead of jabbing your knife in repeatedly, slide the paring knife in between the shells - just to the right of the center front works well – then gently twist to separate. As you begin to pry the shells apart, be sure to sever the abductor on the top of the oyster. Once you cut it loose, your shells should slide open seamlessly, and all you need to do now is sever the bottom abductor by gently sliding your paring knife along the bottom side of the oyster. Flip it and reveal the beautiful, smooth oyster meat. Lastly, drizzle with lemon juice or Tabasco and slurp it down!

Not sure you want to worry yourself with the dirty work of prying oysters open? Come on in to Razzoo’s in Texas or North Carolina, where we have delicious, fresh oysters on the half shell ready and waiting! Order our signature Cajun raw oysters or you can get them boiled with garlic butter and Parmesan.

5 Ways to Eat Catfish at Razzoo’s!

Catfish is a staple of Cajun cuisine. It’s pretty hard to beat pipin’ hot, flaky catfish fresh from the Gulf.

Good news: Razzoo’s Cajun Café has not 1 – but 5 – different ways for you to enjoy catfish this week. So dig in and grab one of these delicious platters today!

Fried Catfish

Ah yes – one of our most popular dishes and for very good reason. Razzoo’s has a knack for frying up just about anything, and the catfish is sure to please. Ours is cut into strips and fried, giving you plenty of fried goodness, then served with French fries, corn on the cob, hushpuppies, tartar sauce, and cocktail sauce. Decide how hungry you are though…this one comes in 2 portion sizes: Fried Cat Basket (big) or Fried Cat Platter (bigger). Prepare to be full either way!

Jalapeno Catfish

If you like the taste of fried catfish but want to try something new, go with the jalapeno catfish! Our fried catfish filet is drizzled in a creamy jalapeno gravy and served with fresh vegetables and buttered French bread. Good eatin’!

Blackened Catfish

Equally as delicious, the blackened catfish is generously basted in butter and coated in Cajun seasonings, then blackened to perfection. Plus: you get a generous dose of dirty rice, veggies, and French bread.

Stuff’d Catfish

If you’ve come hungry, then look no further than the stuff’d fish. You’ll get tender catfish filet stuffed with shrimp and crab stuffing, then slathered in crawfish butter sauce. It’s mighty delicious, just not great for your waistline.

Combo Platter Catfish

Can’t decide between catfish and your other seafood favorites?! You don’t have to! Order the Combo Platter: fried catfish, shrimp, and crawfish tails, all served with French fries, corn on the cob, and hushpuppies.

What are you waiting for?! Head to a Razzoo’s Cajun Café near you to enjoy the best catfish in Texas – just the way you like it! Proudly serving guests in Round Rock, Lewisville, Tyler, College Station, Fort Worth, and more.

Razzoo’s: More Than Just Fried Food

When people think Razzoo’s Cajun Café, they normally think about all of the delicious fried foods on our menu. We’re talking Rat Toes, Fried Shrimp, Fried Pickles, Fried Catfish, etc.

But folks – Razzoo’s is so much more than that!

Sure, our fried food is pretty fantastic if we do say so ourselves, but Razzoo’s has other non-fried menu offerings that are just as delicious.

Ready to hear about some of our favorites? Read on—

Stuff’d Fish or Shrimp

The menu even says this one is “real great” – and for good reason! Who wouldn’t want to experience tender, flaky fish, stuffed with our crab and shrimp stuffin’, then drizzled with creamy crawfish butter sauce. Is shrimp your favorite? Then order our jumbo shrimp stuffed with crab, coated in a creamy sauce. It’s the stuff of dreams I tell ya.

Grilled Gator Tail

A delicacy of the Gulf coast, when in season, gator tail sells out fast! Try this Cajun favorite served with jambalaya and our special BBQ “ouch” sauce. No frying required.

Cajun Tricky Fish

Razzoo’s has perfected the art of creating moist, tender, melt-in-your-mouth blackened chicken and fish, and the Cajun Tricky Fish is no exception. Pair with our crawfish etoufee and dirty rice, and it’s a match made in heaven.

Cajun Combo Skillet

New Wines at Razzoo’s Cajun Café!

That’s right folks – we’re upping our game and giving you more than just “white, red, or pink.” You’ve asked and we’ve answered – Razzoo’s Cajun Café brings you new wines available on our menu now! Here are just a few of the new wine specials in Texas offered now at Razzoo’s:

Joseph Carr Chardonnay

If you are a white wine drinker, then you will love our new chardonnay – the Joseph Carr Sonoma Coast Chardonnay. Sourced from (you guessed it!) the Sonoma Coast in California, the grapes were harvested at their peak for perfect acidity and flavor. As the wine hits your lips, you’ll taste notes of fruity lemon, peach, and even almond. Pairs great with our blackened fish or chicken!

Coppola Pinot Grigio

Razzoo’s selected this as one of our new wines because it offers great versatility and drinkability. Coppola picks the grapes at their peak age, ensuring maximum flavor before pressing. We’re pretty sure you will love the hints of citrus, honey, and floral blossoms that can be tasted in each delicious sip.

Simi Merlot

This rich red Merlot is from the Alexander Valley of Sonoma County. (Yeah, that doesn’t mean much to us country folk either, but we know it makes this merlot taste pretty darn good.) Each sip brings a bold, full-bodied flavor with hints of spice and cherry. We love it with our Crawfish Etoufee and other Cajun food at Razzoo’s.

Decoy Pinot Noir

Looking for a lighter option to compliment the bold spicy flavors of our shrimp creole? Decoy Pinot Noir is another great red! The versatility and fresh flavor of this wine can’t be beat! If you’re a red wine drinker, order a glass of this and you won’t be disappointed.

Razzoo’s offers daily drink specials at all of our locations, including wine specials in Texas at our locations in Lewisville, Round Rock, College Station, Garland, Fort Worth and more. Join us today for a glass of wine on the patio!
